Actually, the Gracey storyline is so much weaker in this one compared to how he was a central character in the 2003 film. The 2003 story was honestly much better all around as a tragic haunting love story vs 2023's vengeful spirit with a story of grief.

As such, Haunted Mansion is a fine film. At least, that's what my inner film critic would say… Haunted Mansion is also one of the few movies out there that has me split between film appreciation and my Christian beliefs. As a Christian, I actually cannot recommend this film.

In the film, a man named Alistair Crump (Jared Leto) is behind all the hauntings and mysterious deaths. He killed party guests and servants alike in his own mansion, Crump Manor, until the staff revolted and chopped his head off. Crump's ghost shows up in Master Gracey's mansion after Leota accidentally summons him.

Simien and Dippold take a different narrative direction from the 2003 iteration, but since the new Haunted Mansion is indeed a remake, many of the ride's features and characters, including Madame Leota, find their way into both films.

The outdoor queue experience will be expanded and a new shop will be added at the attraction's exit. Apparently, Madame Leota needed a new carriage house for the ghostly steed and Hearse and it will just happen to benefit the Guests by functioning as the new retail space.

The attention to detail throughout the ride is incredible and the special effects remain terrific even after all thes... “Another Magic Kingdom Must see!” It is a very fun ride and we enjoyed it deeply!

In terms of scariness this film has infrequent jump scares, when they do appear they are scary (the scariest is at the beginning) the music adds creepy vibes and the ghosts themselves do have scary designs Characters are chased and axes are thrown and the hatbox ghost is menacing.

The Haunted Mansion is dark and contains some mildly frightening scenes, but there is no gore, the ghostly residents are friendly and the ride is slow-moving.

Gracey Manor is modeled after the original Disneyland Haunted Mansion. Crump Manor is modeled after Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World.
