Hey Sunny,
Thanks for sharing this! I was actually going to ask for some info on numbers and suits. I like to do an overview of things first too. I never looked at the numbers quite like that before. Very interesting

Gooooooooooooooood morning!

Every once in a blue moon, I get the New Worlds magazine from
Llewellyn in the mail. I was glancing at the most recent one,
March/April 2005 edition. In the Tarot section, Barbara Moore had a
section for tarot spread reading tips, which I'd like to share with
y'all.

"Interpreting each individual card in a spread is essential to a
good reading. However you can get a useful overview by observing
the numbers and suits represented in the reading."

(for timing)
If there are several Aces – 3s, the situation is in the beginning of
a cycle.
If there are several 4s – 7s, the situation is in the middle of a
cycle.
If there are several 8s – 10s, the situation is at the end of a
cycle.

If there are:

Several Wands: consider your career, projects, or skills in terms
of this situation.
Several Cups: consider the role of emotions in this situation – are
they dominating, are they being neglected?
Several Swords: consider how you are thinking about the situation.
Several Pentacles: consider the importance of material resources or
health.
Several Major Arcanas: the situation may be more significant than
you thought; consider the spiritual impact of the situation.

Does anyone else have tips like these they can share? I like to
collect them and add them to my notes.

Finally, she also had listed 4 spreads I hadn't seen before. The
one I want to try tonight is "The Make Better Spread." This is not
about changing yourself to something else, but making yourself
better. You will need to divide your deck into 5 piles – Major
Arcana, Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pents. Draw the cards from each
pile as indicated below:

"What I'd like to" then 2 columns straight down, one for "change"
and 2nd is "become" - I'm not sure that the posting here will show
the 2 straight columns. There aren't any fancy layouts, okay?

Major Arcana card 1 card 2
Wands card 3 card 4
Cups card 5 card 6
Swords card 7 card 8
Pentacles card 9 card 10

Each row corresponds to an aspect of your life.

Major Arcana – the general direction of your life
Wands – your spiritual life
Cups – your emotional life or relationships
Swords – your intellectual life or the way you look at the world.
Pentacles – your physical self.

Lastly, Aeclectic Tarot website has announced they have posted some
new decks to the website. The Archeon Tarot looks very intriguing.
I'm tempted to buy that deck.

So, what do you think folks? Try the spread?

Hugs,
Sunny

Has anybody heard of the Zodiac Tarot or Astrological Tarot (not Pythagorean). It has 36 cards, some cards except their pictures have a sign on them and so all the 12 signs are included. Also also all the letters are included one on each card.
Thanks for your kind reply,
Catherine

It rings a bell...

http://www.stariq.com/Main/Articles/P0001862.HTM has an article
talking about the only original tarot deck (at the time of writing)
that included the zodiac, the rare and highly-prized MINCHIATE
(deck) of Renaissance Florence. Excerpt from the Editor's Note: The
cards in this article are reproduced from The Minchiate Tarot Deck
by Brian Williams, published by Destiny Books, an imprint of Inner
Traditions. Copyright 1999 by Brian Williams.

I came across this one at http://www.astroamerica.com/t-
zodiac.html. It's a modern collage type deck with 44 cards, I
think. There's one card for each house, planet and sign. There's
even a card for Chiron, the wounded healer! (Hey Sigar! I remember
our earlier chat on him!)

THanks for the link. I always wondered why so much fuss was made
about the deck and also the name...seems from the aforementioned
link..

"Minchiate became immensely popular in seventeenth and eighteenth
century Florence as a game. Speculation suggests the actual word may
come from an Old Italian word, menchia, meaning game or sport"

You can play with this deck and get to see if lovely colourisation
(soon Sunny you too will be spelling like this...) over at facade.com.

Yep. Perhaps he helped you with your decision...as he is the sign
that by helping others you help yourself.

You'll find as I did, once you become an ex-pat everyone is...you'll
be amazed how many you run into. I swore at one point the whole
homeland was overseas; it's really bizarre.

Cheers mate ;-)
